**Warning**

I was under contract with this property. It was presented to me as a seasonal mobile home in a mobile home park. The real estate agent repeatedly claimed that this location could only remain a mobile home park due to state regulations and proximity to water. I was told the current owners were the original and only owners. None of this was true.

Our only condition for the purchase was to see the mobile home park HOA rules. This took 10 days for them to provide! In that time I did some of my own research. Looking at public tax records I discovered that the mobile home park had been sold to a new owner exactly 1 year ago. No information was available on-line and no details about “Riverside Landing”. The only thing I could find was that the land was purchased by “Good To Go Properties LLC” and that they are listed as a contractor / remodeling company. The address for Good To Go Properties LLC was a single family home that also shares the address with another contractor company who did have significant on-line presence and a facebook account that boasted many photos of new construction and re-modeling old camps and apartments.

I was very concerned about the fact that the property was just recently purchased by a new owner who appears to be a large contractor. I was worried that the plans for this property were to make significant changes. I brought up my concerns to the broker who kept insisting that the new owners didn’t want to change anything and that the state would not allow them to change anything. I was told it can only ever be a “mobile home park”….

So, 10 days later and I finally receive the “HOA rules” from the property owner. What I was given however was “Riverside Landing Camping Rules_Regs_Jan 2022” …. rules for a campground, not a mobile home park.

In those rules it clearly states that any RV (the term RV refers to any camping unit designed and used for temporary dwelling for recreational, camping, travel or seasonal use, including all types of travel trailers, 5th wheels, park models also known as park trailers and motor homes, etc.) cannot be any older than 10 years of age when purchased! Owners of older campers are free to sell to whoever they like as long as the RV is removed from the property.

The sale of a seasonal RV to another party does not mean the site is transferred as well. All Campers are free to sell their RV to a person of their own choosing provided the RV is removed from the Campground. There is no obligation on the part of the Campground to purchase your RV and you are not obligated to sell your RV to the Campground. You do not acquire any property interest in your Campground site by placing your RV on the site and therefore the sale of your RV does not thereby include the transfer of your site to the new owners.

The good news is… the campground will give you at least 96 hour notice to remove your mobile home or they will make the arrangements to have it moved at your expense!

After I backed out of this valueless property, the real estate agency re-listed it with no changes. It still has the incorrect “HOA” fee of $400 monthly … it’s been raised to $417 and expected in one lump sum of $5000 instead of monthly. They still include photos and a description of a “screened gazebo” which I was told when viewing the property had been torn down last year because of rot.

I was having problems reading some Microchip eeproms in an old Panasonic phone. Newer phones had similar eeproms and I could read and write fine but the old ones would read all 0s (not blank FFFF) and blank check would fail… could not write (program) and verify would fail.

93LC46BX
93LC66BX

I thought maybe my Minipro programmer was broken so I ordered a cheap EZP2019+ but that had the same issue

I could read / write / verify the 93C56W with no problems on both programmers!

After many hours searching on google I never did find a similar issue or explanation that would help me figure out what I needed to do. But at my last glance at a datasheet I saw this little note:

ROTATED SOIC
(ex: 93LC46BX)

ROTATED IC?!?
AH-HA!!

A little barely mentioned fact that some 93LCxx eeproms have a rotated pinout!

I had tried setting my programmer to 93LC46B (BX was not available) and thought that would be the closest match.
NOPE! But when I selected 93LC46X THEN the programmer would read and write to the IC.

So maybe this will show up for someone else searching google for an answer. If you cannot read a Microchip eeprom 93LC46 or 93LC56 or 93LC66, etc… maybe try the rotated pinout option in your programmer (part number ending in X on my Minipro programmer)

If you don’t have the option of selecting a rotated IC in your programmer you could make or buy an adapter

Every company has to deal with terrible customers now and then….

Where is my item? I paid for this a long time ago

p1repair:
Hello,
The order was placed with lowest cost shipping which is by letter envelope. An email was sent to you on 11/15 notifying that the order was mailed with a sample photo of the envelope to look for.

There is no tracking on envelope orders. They usually take just a few days to arrive but sometimes there are delays. If you are expecting a package with tracking then a letter envelope can sneak by unnoticed or mistaken for junk mail.

Please take a look around for mail piles and ask anyone who may collect mail if they remember it. Let me know what you find.

** Also, if you can verify your mailing address. Many lost missing mail pieces are due to incomplete, incorrect or old addresses.

701blank9898
No letters have been received by you. You never sent it or the carrier you used to ship it lost it. This was purchased nov 15. Did you send it by way of horseback or pony express?
Unacceptable!

p1repair:
Your order was mailed out on the 15th and I sent you a separate email with a photo. Accusing me of not sending it or blaming me for it being lost isn't helpful.
If you would like to cooperate I can help you. If you just want to accuse me of things out of my control then we are done.

NEGATIVE FEEDBACK LEFT
Nvr shipped my item i paid for. Nvr offered a solution. Garbage seller!

p1repair:
I sent you a long message describing the issue, what has happened so far, told you I would help and asked for you to verify your mailing address. You responded with hostility and rude accusations. Nasty! You are blocked... good riddance!

701blank9898:
You told me to search my house, and talk to who collects my mail for a solution. Thats about zero effort on your part. I’m who collects the mail and you didn’t send my item. Notice i have positive feedback for everything and that i pay immediately every time! The photo you sent of your shipping has no address genius! so, where did that letter go? Enjoy the negative feedback and sending me a refund!

p1repair:
Yes, that would be the first step. You clearly did not read the listing or the email I sent. You are the one who selected the lowest shipping cost. That is by letter envelope. I need to make sure you understood the item was arriving in an envelope and that you had not gotten it. Many people respond saying they found the order after that. Next we verify your mailing address which I requested and you failed to reply. Many people have incomplete or old addresses. No sense in sending out another package that will go to the same wrong address.

You were RUDE right from the start and accusing me not sending the package. My feedback is proof that I send packages. You are not interested in cooperating and resolving the issue. You just wanted to throw a tantrum and insult people.

"The photo you sent of your shipping has no address genius"
It is a sample of what to look for. The "Your Address" etc.. kinda gives that away. You never read it anyway. It doesn't do any good to go back now to read it for the first time to find something to complain about. Most likely you got the item and threw it away. Now want to blame me for your mistake.

I don't bend over for rude people.... and you certainly qualify.

701blank9898:
Well, that’s like your opinion man.

p1repair:
What is my opinion??
I provide low cost letter mail shipping as a convenience for customers who want to save money. I know that most people are honest, kind and understanding, but not everyone is. That's the price I pay for providing the service to good people. Sometimes I will inevitably run into a jerk.

You know what is an opinion (and a strange one)?? that every lost piece of mail is the fault of the shipper, never the shipping company. OH, and that treating people nasty is a great way to receive good service in return.

Here IS my opinion.... I bet you've had a fair share of spittle in your food.

I would certainly have helped even a jerk. But you jumped from my request to verify your address to accusing me of never sending your order. I can't help an uncooperative jerk.

That's like obvious man.

701blank9898:
This aggression will not stand man!
“That's the price I pay for providing the service to good people.” Own your mistakes buddy and you dont have to pay consequences. You didnt ship the package and if you did, and they lost it, take it up with them. Ebay sellers provide fob shipping. Look that word up as i know you re not familiar. And, stop talking like a deity and what you do is providing some great service. There’s plenty of other sellers/vultures who can complete sales just fine.

 p1repair:
My only mistake was trying to reason with you.
The stamps.com notification of postage purchase and the automatic email generated when printing your postage shows with reasonable intent that I did in fact ship your order. If I did not ship out orders then I would have negative feedback from many people, not just the jerks who cannot own their mistakes.

I do provide great service to reasonable people... but you refused to confirm your mailing address!! What exactly am I supposed to do??
Last week a customer emailed me telling me he ordered the wrong part and I mailed out a replacement order that day at no cost and told him to keep both orders.
Recently I had a customer tell me they moved and the address is no good and I simply mailed them a new order to the updated address at my cost.
Rude jerks don't deserve great service but I do it anyway. Unfortunately you were rude AND uncooperative. Can't help someone who just wants to bitch.

The listing states that the lowest cost shipping is by letter envelope without tracking. You didn't read it and you made ASSUMPTIONS. I then sent you an email about shipment. You didn't read that either.

I send hundreds of letter mail orders every month. About 1% have problems.
Out of that 1% I think it's a reasonable guess that 40% are lost by the mail, 30% are missed by the customers who expect a package, 25% are address errors and 5% are liars and thieves.
What are the chances that an accusation jerk was the unlucky recipient of the 1 in 600 orders that are actually lost by the mail VS the 60% of "lost" packages that are due to lazy illiterate liars. It's not impossible.... just unlikely.

Anyway, my feedback is proof that I mail orders. Your rude feedback was invalid and unjustified. I wear it like a battle scar... no reasonable customer will be swayed by your attack.

Time is the 4th dimension. Not a figure of speech! It is the next direction after up, down, left, right, back and fourth. You cannot see it or point to it because atoms are only 3d. Light waves bounce off 3d atoms and reach your 3d eyes. There is nothing to look at in the 4th dimension.

The universe is expanding in the 4th dimension at the speed of light…. it is expanding through time.  I am a big old-school Doctor Who fan and the idea of time travel is so much fun to think about…. but I’m afraid it’s just not going to happen. You see…. nothing exists outside of the time we are in right now. All the atoms in the universe are riding the cosmic wave front.  The past is when the universe was smaller but it will never be smaller again. You cannot travel back in time because no atoms exist there.

Now one thing I have considered is alternate time lines. Ripples in a pond are always followed by more ripples. There could be entirely different timelines  tagging along right behind us. But if that was true and you could travel there somehow, the place you end up in would be nothing like the place you came from. It would be an entirely new set of cause and effect reality. It may have started out very similar to our reality back 13+ billion years ago but there would be nothing to keep these different realities the same and even the slightest difference 13 billion years ago would change quite literally everything about that universe.

Light, sound, your thoughts, that mountain, the solar system… even your TV. It’s all a wave.

I am pretty darn sure (so that means it’s a fact) that quite literally everything you have seen, touched, thought, ate and dreamed…. it’s all waves. I did another blog on this here but I saw something new today and it reminded me of something else….

This is the most detailed map yet of our place in the universe

Apparently if you could stand outside our universe and see it all for what it is… it would look something like the above image.

Let’s take a look at another image….

Waves in pool water

See the resemblance??

“Ryobi 18-Volt ONE+ Lithium-Ion Cordless Underwater Stick Pool Vacuum Kit for In Ground Pools, Above Ground Pools, and Spas “

Meet the X-Ryobi 12v corded pool Vacuum!

While adding the slight inconvenience of a wire, the complete unit is about 1/4 the weight making it easier to maneuver. Since there are almost no pockets of air (once submerged) the unit does not require added weight to hold it down. The 1100GPH pump seems to have more suction that the original Ryobi and there are no circuit boards to protect.

I really wanted to like the Ryobi 18v pool vacuum… but they break way too easily for a $200 to $300 product.

I purchased one of them broken for parts. When I took it apart to try and fix it I found the motor compartment spotless but the battery compartment corroded beyond hope. Oh well. it was only $20. Worth a try. So I found another one on eBay just listed as used for $50. The used one worked twice and then started to turn on by itself when tilted certain ways. It did not work after that. I took it apart to find the battery compartment spotless but the motor compartment full of rusty water. OK, no problem. I have one unit with a spotless motor and another with a spotless battery housing. Simply build one good unit out of the two!

My rebuilt Ryobi pool vac worked great and I loved the convenience. I get a lot of small leaves and dirt on the bottom. My filter and pump are in a very inconvenient location and I usually use it on low speed so getting out the hoses and stick vac, turning the pump to high and dealing with the hoses when trying to clean is just such a hassle. With the Ryobi I could have the pool clean in less time than setting up my other options.

Unfortunately the joy didn’t last. At first I would inspect the Ryobi unit after every time I used it, to look for any signs of leaks. After maybe 15 uses I was confident it was working and neglected to check…. and of course it leaked! When I went to use it again two days later, it was full of rusty water and my expensive high capacity battery was destroyed!!

I took it apart and there appeared to be only minor damage (other than my battery). The motor compartment had leaked and then water got into the battery compartment from there…. by dripping through a switch that turns on the inductive charging pad. Just a little rust on the motor housing and slight signs of corrosion on the PCBs. However, the switch the water dripped through was junk. It didn’t seem too important so I just shorted the wire so the unit would always think a battery was installed… which was the plan anyway. No reason to ever take the battery out and I’d rather not disturb the seal if not necessary. BUT that was all a waste of time… water was leaking in through the motor.

I really was attached to the idea of an electric powered pool vac so I looked around for alternatives and could not really find a reliable one. Reviews were common on just about all of them stating it worked a few times then stopped. That must be leaks as well.

SO! I decided to buy a refurbished Ryobi this time… with a guarantee, free retunrs AND I purchased the extended warranty plan you often see available with on-line purchases.

Well, the refurbished unit came in but I wasn’t going to trust it. I took the plate between the battery and motor so I could see in there and it looked good! No sign of rust or water damage. I was not worried at all about causing a leak by taking it apart because 1) I know what I’m doing. And 2) Any water would have to leak in through the battery compartment before it could get to the plate I took off for inspection.

Unfortunately…. once again the joy of a working unit did not last. The very first time I used it I noticed extra bubbles coming out of the unit after 5 minutes of use. No air should have been available to create bubbles at that point. I took the vacuum out of the water, turned it off and drained it. And when I tilted the unit a certain way, it would power on by itself! Just like my first one did…. the motor was full of water! Battery compartment was completely dry. Luckily I was able to cancel the extended warranty and return the unit. But I lost any hope of ever finding a reliable cordless pool vac. Time to take matters into my own hands!

Now it’s powered by a 12v 1100GPH bilge pump

The 12v DC bilge pump only cost $15 so it’s an inexpensive project once you already own the Ryobi AND if the pump breaks it will be cheap and easy to replace.

Once the guts are all removed…. that does require a security pin TORX T-20 screwdriver (or a dremel to cut the 4 screws)… all I did was drill a hole on the side for the pump nozzle and used a few tie-wraps to hold it all in place. At first I tried it with the nozzle pointed out the new large hole at the bottom but that stirred up the dirt and leaves while in use. It works much better pointed out the side.

The battery I used was one I had around already. It’s a smaller size 12v 4.5ah sealed lead acid battery. I just added a fuse and a switch. For wire I used the power cable I cut off a broken power washer. You could use an old extension cord as well. The pump is only 3 amp max so a 115v, 15 amp extension cord is a bit over kill. 18 awg is plenty for the wire.

The last touch is simply an old hand bag to tote the battery on your shoulder and a hook on the extension pole to help hold the wire. My wire is long enough that I could just place the batter on the deck and reach everything but I like to keep the pole shorter and move around.

I picked up one of these portable 12v/24v DC freezers at a good deal because the lid latch was broken. Here I will show you how I repaired it.

Cracked latch. This will completely break off soon if not taken care of!

To remove the latch use a flat-head screwdriver in the notch found at the center of the rod to slide the rod toward the side spring. This will slide the left side out of the hole in the lid and allow you to pull out the latch.

I found a washer that just pressed on tight. You may need to take the latch to a hardware store to pick out one that fits around the plastic and also inside the latch handle.

I glued the washer and also reinforced the plastic using melted ABS in M.E.K. solution. You probably won’t have that but you should glue it in there.

You might as well put washers on both sides while you have it apart, even if the other side is not broken yet.

You should glue / repair the cracked plastic before adding the washer. Model glue plastic cement is OK for the plastic but can’t be used to hold the washer in place.

DO NOT USE: super glue, crazy glue, etc…
I repeat… NO SUPER GLUE!!!!! Just don’t!!! It will not last and it will make it more difficult to repair next time. And there WILL be a next time!
DO NOT USE: cheap clear 5-min epoxy
DO use plastic epoxy (I like Loctite Plastic Bonder 20 min – opaque amber)
JB weld is OK (scuff up the plastic first)
Whatever glue you use make sure you don’t glue the metal rod!

When you go to put the repaired latch back in, you need the door open… put the right side of the rod in first. The two springs sticking out should fit inside the little raised slots on the lid. You can press in the rod from the left and it should slide down and into that hole on the left side.
The spring on the rod should snap the rod into the hole once you have it lined up, but for me I needed to help it back in using the screwdriver (the same way I got it off but in reverse).

FYI

The kitchen faucet cartridge (model 3S-11) for Glacier Bay, AquaSource, Danco, etc… works just fine in the Kingston Brass KS213ORB Magellan Faucet

3S-11C for the cold side (replaces KC1000C)

3S-11H for the hot side (replaces KC1000H)

I found these locally at the big box stores for cheap and decided to give it a try instead of mail ordering the more expensive brass part from Kingston Brass.

How fast is light??

Conventional science says the speed of light is about 300 km/s
But what if I told you this was wrong….? What if I told you the speed of light is a lot slower than that? Like as in zero.

Again, it’s all a matter of perspective! In the big picture… if you could step out and look… light does not move. It’s more correct to say the speed of matter is 300 km/s!!

Seriously!…. OK think about this. Time and space are relative. The faster you go in space the less you experience time. When you reach the cosmic speed limit you experience no time at all. By the perspective of light… the photon reaches it’s target the very instant it exists. Even if it traveled 10 billion light years… according to the photon it took no time to get there. The entire distance is traveled in less than an instant! How fast can you go in no time at all?? The answer is zero!

So what’s with the 300 kilometers per second thing? Something has to be moving… right?

Yes, something is moving but it’s not the light that is moving…. everything else is! Crazy huh?? Well… not so much. I think the crazy part is that I have to be the one to tell you this. Certainly someone else must have considered this…. anyone??… Bueller?? Well, everyone knows the universe is expanding but what does that really mean? It means that every point in space is stretching out in all directions. Sometimes I like to think about it as waves in a pond but every single point in space is radiating out in all directions all the time.  How fast are all these points going exactly?? 300 km per second!  How do I know that?? Read on….

Cosmic speed limit

So in reality… a reality we cannot see from our perspective… it’s more correct to think of all matter moving at 300 km/s. When we go faster by our perspective, we are actually slowing down! Since you cannot go any slower than zero, it is impossible to go any “faster”. That’s why the speed of light will never be broken, just like Einstein told you.

Am I nuts!?

Well… I might just be crazy. After all I am not a scientist. The closest I got to any schooling on these matters was physics 101.  So, that may be the case (that I have no idea what I’m babbling on about) but then there would be one hell of a coincidence that needs explaining if I’m wrong. Exactly how do I start out with the speed of light… plug in the age of the universe… throw that at a simple math equation… and then come out with a number that leading astronomers say is the speed of expansion!!?

When I started thinking about this, leading scientists at the time said the speed the universe was expanding at was 74.3 plus or minus 2.1 km/s. That was bit higher than my number but really, really close. What caught my attention was that I was working with insanely huge numbers and crazy tiny fractions… and when I was done, I got the number 70.761 km/s. Then a few years later I see a new article “A new series of papers published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society finds the value to be 71.2 km/s” WOW!! I came up with 71 and leading scientists just changed what they believe the number to be from (72 to 76) down to 71.  How can that be a coincidence???

Wait… What??… How!

I believe the universe is expanding in a higher dimension at the number we call “speed of light”. We exist on the outer edge of a balloon that is expanding out at 300 km/s. That causes the outer edge of the balloon to expand at 71 km/s per mega parsec. In our little 3rd dimension existence, every point in space is zipping outward at 300 km/s. Matter (atoms) are just other sets of waves that are travelling on (riding like a surfer) the expanding universe’s 3rd dimension. These atomic waves clump together and are not flung apart as they are pushed because they create the effect we call gravity that causes those waves to stay close. Sometimes I think of it like refraction… atoms are waves (standing waves by our perspective) and those waves are bent inward toward each other when they get close.

Atoms (mass) are pushed by the expanding wave front, but when light photons are created they have no speed. They are not effected by the expanding wave and remain where they are so to speak. From our spot on the surfboard those light photons appear to be moving away from us at 300 km/s. They appear to be a wave because they are bobbing up and down by our point of view. And maybe they are bobbing up and down, after all I truly believe everything is just another wave in one dimension or another…. or maybe all of them but we just can’t see that.

Thought about this the other day and it blows my mind. All cells… from bacteria… to ant hair… to human skin cells that are now dust on your book shelf… exist only because their parent cell copied and split. Just like people have genealogies going back generations, every cell has a parent cell. And here is the cool part. Any cell, no matter what it is… even your nose hair… has been successfully copying and dividing for BILLIONS of years. When you clean your shower you are killing mold cells that have been replicating and surviving for 3+ BILLION YEARS… and you just killed it!!! You monster……
